The Cook County Sheriff’s Office deployed approximately 120 additional officers to the South and West sides due to the looting and other criminal activity in Chicago on August 9-10th.
“While we fully support the right to peacefully protest, this was violent. We will continue to work with the Chicago Police Department and other agencies to bring peace to Chicago,” said Cook County Sheriff, Thomas J. Dart.
Sheriff Dart also has officers watching for criminal activity around large shopping areas in Chicago. “It is important to be responsive in these extreme situations as public safety is of the utmost importance,” said Sheriff Dart.
Today while assisting CPD at Madison and Pulaski we had an officer injured by a brick thrown through his patrol car window. He was treated for the injury and has since been released.
