COOK COUNTY, IL – A Schaumburg man has been charged with dissemination of child pornography after investigators determined he shared several sexually explicit images and videos of children under the age of 13 through social media apps, Cook County Sheriff Thomas J. Dart announced today.
The Cook County Sheriff’s Police Special Victims Unit received a cyber tip from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children about images and videos of child pornography found on a social media account linked to David Prince, 24, of the 1500 block of Somerset Lane.
On Monday, Feb. 7, SVU investigators executed a search warrant for his residence where they seized his cell phone and other electronic devices, and he was taken into custody for further investigation.
After being issued his Miranda Rights, Prince told investigators he used social media to view child pornography. Investigators revealed he shared more than two dozen pornographic images and videos of underage children on social media apps.
Prince appeared today in the Rolling Meadows Courthouse where he was issued a $30,000 D Bond on charges of dissemination of child pornography, a Class X felony. He was released after posting the required 10% of his bond.
The public is reminded that the defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty by the government in a court of law.
