COOK COUNTY, IL – A 30-year-old Streamwood man has been charged with possession of child pornography following a Cook County Sheriff’s Police investigation, Sheriff Thomas J. Dart announced today.
On Monday, July 22, Sheriff’s Police Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Unit investigators arrested Jose Hidrogo, of the 100 block of Red Cedar Drive, after numerous sexually explicit files of children under the age of 13 were found on his cellphone.
The investigation was initiated after ICAC investigators received a tip from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children regarding images and videos of child pornography saved on a cellphone provider cloud storage app linked to Hidrogo.
Investigators obtained a search warrant for the account and verified that it contained child pornography.
On July 9, ICAC investigators interviewed Hidrogo at his home. After being issued his Miranda Warning, Hidrogo confirmed that the cellphone associated with the cloud storage app belonged to him. Investigators took possession of Hidrogo’s cellphone, and a forensic analysis of the phone revealed approximately 100 images and 40 videos of child pornography, many involving victims under the age of 13.
On Monday, the Cook County State’s Attorney’s Office approved one count of Possession of Child Pornography/Videos/Vic <13, a Class 2 Felony.
Hidrogo appeared today at the Rolling Meadows Courthouse for his initial court hearing on the charge, after which he was ordered detained pending trial.
Since 2020, investigations by the Sheriff’s ICAC Unit have led to charges against 49 individuals for cases involving the victimization of children and child pornography.
The public is reminded that the defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty by the government in a court of law.
