COOK COUNTY, IL – A Northbrook man has been charged with two counts of armed robbery after Sheriff’s Police Detectives identified him as the offender in two robberies that occurred in unincorporated Northfield Township, Cook County Sheriff Thomas J. Dart announced today.
On Wednesday, June 26, the offender identified as Devin McCahill, 18, of the 3700 block of Greenleaf Lane, was arrested after detectives determined he was involved in two separate robbery incidents that occurred on June 23 and June 26, just a block away from his home. The stolen items were valued at approximately $2,000.
During the investigation, detectives learned that McCahill connected with two different individuals through social media apps commonly used to buy, sell, or trade goods. In both incidents, McCahill met with the victims, robbed them at gunpoint, and fled the scene.
The Cook County State’s Attorney Office approved two counts of Armed Robbery with a Firearm, a Class X Felony.
On Thursday, June 27, McCahill appeared at the Skokie Courthouse where a judge ordered him to be held in custody at the Cook County Jail. His next court date is scheduled for July 17.
The public is reminded that the defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
