A 60-year-old Chicago man has been charged with multiple felonies after he solicited an undercover Cook County Sheriff’s Police officer who was posing as a teenage boy on a dating app, Sheriff Thomas J. Dart announced today.
The man, identified as Zasimo Bahonsua was arrested on Thursday, March. 5 by Sheriff’s Police after he arranged to meet a person he thought was a 15-year-old boy at pre-determined location, according to the investigation.
At around 10 a.m. on March 5, Bahonsua contacted the undercover officer, and continued to communicate with the individual throughout the day, discussing sexual acts, even after the undercover officer stated he was a minor on multiple occasions.
Bahonsua then arranged to meet the person he believed to be a teenage boy later that afternoon to engage in sexual activity and was arrested by Sheriff’s Police when he arrived at the predetermined location, according to the investigation.
Bahonsua appeared today at a bond hearing at the Maywood Courthouse charged with attempt criminal sexual abuse, grooming, indecent solicitation of a child, and traveling to meet a minor. Bail was set at $25,000 D with electronic monitoring.
The public is reminded that the defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty by the government in a court of law.
