For an individual currently in custody

To recover property of an individual who is currently in custody, please see the following:

1. For individuals housed in Divisions 2, 3 Annex, 5, 8 RTU, 8 Cermak, or 16, please go directly to Division 5 to retrieve the property. Division 5 is located at 2700 S. California Avenue and open every day, Sunday to Saturday, from 9:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.
2. For individuals housed in Divisions 6, 9, or 11, you must physically go to the division the individual is housed and ask a Correctional Liaison for a property release form signed by the individual in custody. Correctional Liaisons are available for public assistance Mon-Fri 9:00am-1:30pm. Please see division addresses below.

• Division 9 (2834 W. 31st Street)
• Division 11 (3015 S. California Blvd.)

Once you are provided with the signed document, you must bring the signed document to Division 5 to retrieve the property.

For an individual that has been transported to IDOC or another correctional facility

1. Prior to being transferred to another facility, the individual in custody will complete and sign a release form and mail it out to the recipient.
2. Once the form is received via mail, the recipient can bring the form to Division 5 to recover the property. Division 5 is located at 2700 S. California Ave. and available Sunday-Saturday, 9:00am-7:00pm.

Note: You must have a valid ID to enter the jail. Please expect to wait as property pick up may take one to two hours.
