Incident Command Team
The ICT (Incident Command Team) coordinates regular, focused sweep operations. The ICT also deploys in the event of catastrophe or major emergency, and the mobile Command Bus acts as a National Incident Management System-compliant Command Post.
Official liaison to MABAS and ILEAS (regional mutual aid task forces).

Hostage / Barricade / Terrorist (HBT) Team
The goal is safely bringing a non-violent end to situations where armed subjects have taken hostages, barricaded themselves, or threatened to kill themselves or others. HBT is composed of two specialized teams: Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT) Team and Crisis Negotiation Team (CNT). These are trained specialists and operators.  Almost all of the Cook County suburbs rely on the Sheriff’s Police HBT Team for this type of service.

Tier 1 Bomb Team 
The Sheriff’s Police Bomb Team removes or defuses explosive bombs and munitions, as well as disposing of improvised explosive materials and seized bulk ammunition. Disposal of dangerous illegal fireworks is included. The Bomb Team also provides canine detection of explosive materials and munitions. Common scenarios include clearing locations where bomb threats have been called in, clearing locations for diplomats and dignitaries, and ensuring the safety of critical facilities and infrastructure.

Treatment Response Team
Operating under the auspices of the Chief Public Safety Officer, the Cook County Sheriff’s Treatment Response Team is a social service program embedded in a law enforcement agency. In this interdisciplinary team, highly trained police officers save the lives of overdose victims and refer them to licensed mental health/substance abuse professionals for treatment.

The Treatment Response Team assists individuals and families impacted by substance abuse and mental health concerns.

Public Integrity Unit
Under the Office of the Chief Public Safety Officer, the Public Integrity Unit is headed by an investigator who specializes in public corruption cases (including those involving financial fraud). Investigates and seeks prosecution of corrupt public officials on behalf of their municipal employer.
